Attending Installation rules course is so important for an electrician as it equips them with the knowledge required regarding the LEGISLATION, RULES and REGULATIONS governing the electrical industry.
Electricians will also acquire the necessary knowledge required to do electrical installation correctly and according to the prescribed standards laid down by the electrical industry.

Additionally you will be provided with all the material that is needed during this course (SANS 10142-1 book, CD with more than 10 years past exam papers and memo’s, and a mountain off other relevant info) Further to this it is a one stop service in the sense that Renkalec Training Centre will do your exam enrolment and administer all the paperwork while you can focus on your studies.
No, there is quite a big difference between the two. In short the Installation Rules (See Installation Rules course Description) is theoretical Examination assessing your knowledge on the OSHAct and Rules and Regulations governing the Electrical Industry. A Wireman’s License is a registration that is done at Department of Labour. This registration is subject to certain qualifications, of which Installation Rules is one, as described in the Information brochure for application as a registered person.
No, Renkalec Training Centre will manage your enrolment at the FET College. This examination is written in Pretoria. If you wish to do your own enrolment at your local FET you are free to do that.
You can attend the Installation Rules course full time or part time. The full time course is 2 weeks long and the part time course is 6 weeks, 2 evenings a week. Please see our Installation Rules course description for more details.
You have to get 50% for both Paper 1 and Paper 2.
You have to re-write the paper that you have not past within a year of the first attempt, if you don’t you have to re-write both papers. If, however you got more than 75% for the paper that you have passed there is no time limit for re-writing the paper that you have failed.
Yes, we will assist you with re-enrolment. The FET has an enrolment fee that will be paid by you in the event of re-enrollment.
As Renkalec Training Centre does not control the examination or the results of this we cannot guarantee the time that it takes. Usually the results become available at the beginning of the next term. The result statement takes a bit longer, but as soon as it is available you will be notified.
